Hi,

Thanks a lot, I was breaking my head to incorporate the date in the filenames, in crontab entries.
Thanks for the tip.

There's a "/" missing :

/database-data`date +%m%d%y`.sql.gz

==>

/database-data/`date +%m%d%y`.sql.gz

And files are easier to find when the year comes first

==>

/database-data/`date +%Y-%m-%d`.sql.gz

    I only disagree because once they start blocking one site, who is going to stop them when they start blocking the next site.

Censorship lately has been a hot topic especially overseas and if one provider in the States thinks they have the authority to start blocking sites from their users because of their personal views they need to think again. Consumers need to take a stand against any provider who believes they can use these tactics.

Netneutrality must remain on the internet.

    And once again, it NEVER fails with the incessant lying, as lying is a way of life for these hacker creeps. I salute AT&T for blocking viruses, trojans and nasty spider scripts, as that is what the REAL truth is as to WHY AT&T has flashed the middle finger [blocked] to 4 Chan. Why should AT&T waste time and energy in dealing with viruses, trojans and uncontrollable script programs emanating from the 4 Chan site?

I don't condone censorship and I certainly don't condone lies "in the name of lulz". The only thing 4 Chan has proven again and again, is that they are infantile and violent. A bunch of two year olds who go on tirades. And just like an out of control two year old, they need some REAL hard slaps from the school of hard knocks.

Any consequences or denial of internet access to AT&T customers due to NAZI actions emanating from 4 Chan [or any other hacker creeps for that matter], I pray that they are caught, rounded up, prosecuted beyond the extent of the law, thrown in a windowless cell and locked up forever until the day they die.

I commend AT&T for taking the step forward and I sincerely hope that other ISP'S follow suit ASAP. ENOUGH IS ENOUGH. Hackers cause destruction, chaos, waste everyones time and energy. Normal people on the net are SICK AND TIRED of these two year old tantrum antics that 4 Chan displays on a daily basis. These hacker creeps really and truly need to GROW THE F*** UP.

    The correct term is "cracked" not hacked. It's like associating one ethnic group with another - usually both groups get mad. In this idiotic world of political correctness why can't they get these two terms right?

    Considering this hardware, its no wonder Google was willing to help with the Helmer (http://helmer.sfe.se/).

[The most amazing is that this machine just cost as a better standard PC, but has 24 cores that run each at 2.4 Ghz, a total of 48GB ram, and just need 400W of power!! This means that it hardly gets warm, and make less noise then my desktop pc.] He's running a lot more processor, a lot more RAM, using less than the power than two of these servers. Given that his boards are using onboard graphics and sound, and Google wouldn't need them, they stand to save a significant amount from just having one container's worth of servers alone.

    You can see the GA-9IVDT here (http://www.gigabyte.com.tw/Products/Networking/Products_Spec.aspx?ProductID=1075)

It looks quite similar to its google counterpart but more feature full (onboard video etc) It is also clearly not a newer core or nehalem based board placing it at 3 generations old.

As anon said the PSU is also clearly custom with the big 12VDC lines running into it from the battery.

The Hitachi deskstars where actually pretty reliable after the bugs where nailed out :p I have had one running happily for a couple of years.

All in all its probably one of their older servers or an older pic.

    It is an "I", not a "1".
And x86 systems can certainly have more than 4GB RAM; some OSes can not access it, but Linux can.

    As Mr. Bill points out (http://weblog.mrbill.net/archives/2009/04/01/google-server-and-the-gigabyte-ga-9ivdp/), I suspect this system is from a little while back, and not the latest technology in use by Google. All other indications are the MB and PSU are custom made for Google. Judging from their paper on disk failures I suspect they used Deskstars for a short time before switching to something else; it sounded like they used many different brands of drives over the years.
